Artificial Grass Provides Environment Advantages
Author: tkwriter
artificial grass is also referred to as “waterless grass” as it is manufactured of plastic, a material purported to be ecologically benign. It requires less maintaining than does natural grass, and, of course, no watering. As is well known, a natural lawn needs a lot of water. Because of the dearth of water sources in many areas, artificial grass is believed to be the best alternative to living grasses for lawns of residences located in such places.
The greatest advantage to this is that you don’t have to apply any kind of fertilizer. After all, spreading fertilizer is not only a tedious task but often results in the environment becoming degraded, especially in relation to our water supply. When it rains, fertilizers and other wastes are carried by the run-off into nearby rivers, ponds and other bodies of water, which will thus become increasingly contaminated.
It is obvious that there are numerous advantages to installing artificial grass (otherwise known as synthetic grass). If you put down artificial grass, the air around your home will become significantly less polluted. Also, with a synthetic lawn, you never have to be concerned about mowing the grass.
According to studies by the Environmental Protection Agency (the EPA) using a lawn mower for an hour with petrol is nearly equivalent to driving one hundred miles in a car. Installing artificial grass might be your best option since it not only reduces pollution, it also saves you time and money for maintenance on both your lawn and your lawn mower.
Some studies have shown that the smell that emanates from the grass you cut can in fact be unsafe for the environment. Some academics in Australia have done studies on this and they found that when you cut the lawn grass, some kind of hydrocarbons are released into the air and also it goes into the atmosphere. This is said to make even a dreadful smog day most awful.
Therefore, it is long overdue that people start confirming pollution levels before using a lawn mower. None of the aforementioned concerns arise with the use of artificial grass. You will notice that your entire house and its surroundings are now environmentally friendly. If you thought installing artificial grass was tedious and difficult, you will be surprised. The grass can be installed on any solid surface with no problems.
Artificial Grass is also called waterless grass since they are produced from plastic which is believed to be eco friendly. They need less maintenance and no watering. As you all know, maintaining a lawn requires lot of water. There is scarcity of water in many places and sometimes a synthetic lawn is the best alternative to natural grass. There are many benefits to installing artificial grasses or artificia grasses. Artificial grass significantly cuts down on air pollution. Synthetic grass installation has the benefit of never having to mow the lawn again to trim it down.

Landscape Rock Basic Tips
Author: tkwriter
I get questions all the time regarding the use of landscape rock vs landscape mulch. The truth is, mulch is better for the health of your landscape, but rock is better for the health of your wallet.
In addition to that, rock is not bad for your plants, it just adds no additional health benefits either. It all comes down to the type of rock you choose, and if you have shopped around at all, you have seen the hundreds of choices available. This article will give you some advice in regards to some of the main points to consider.
Landscape Rock Colors
Of course, the first thing everyone notices is the color of the landscape rock. While the coloring has nothing to do with the plants themselves, it has everything to do with the overall look of your garden and landscape.
I always recommend a color that contrasts with the main color of your house. If you want a clean and subdued look, then choose rock that is in the same color family. In other words, if you have beige siding, go with a tan or beige rock. If you have red brick, then choose red rock, preferably a shade or two darker.
For more pop, choose a brighter color that complements the trim color of your house. Keep in mind that darker colors will absorb heat, and this can stress out your plants in the summer and may require you irrigate more often.
Landscape Rock Size
This element is important for many reasons. First off, consider the type plants in your landscape. If you have a lot of soft-bodied perennials like daylily or hosta, then larger rocks can inhibit their growth each year as they send up new leaves. In this case, you would want a smaller rock that they can push through with little trouble.
Larger rocks, however, will not move around as much if you have kids who tend to talk in the landscape beds. In addition, smaller rocks can be washed out in heavy rains. The best choice is a rock that is medium-sized.
Landscape Rock Texture
By far, the most popular landscape rocks are lava rocks. They are rough around the edges. This can also harm plants if too many are stacked up directly around the stems. Another popular choice is river stone. The only drawback here is weight. River stones are very heavy and can compact the soil around the plants and stunt their growth. On the positive side, the river stones are smooth and won’t cut into the plants and stems.
My Best Recommendation
This is purely preference, but my favorite landscape stone is good old fashioned pea gravel. Pea gravel most normally comes in beige or white and can be easily integrated into any landscape and look good. Pea gravel is also easy to handle and spreads very nicely, meaning you need less of it to cover your beds.
Pea gravel is smooth and will not get in the way of plant growth. You can even grow bulbs in a landscape bed with pea gravel. Tulips and daffodils will have no trouble pushing through each spring.
While winter is almost here and you are surely thinking about purchasing snow melter and ice melter products, now is a great time to think ahead to next spring and be prepared to add in some landscape rock to give your garden a clean and organized look.
How To Buy Gloves For Gardening
Author: tkwriter
It’s funny to think about, buy your choice in gardening gloves can make a big difference in your overall ‘green’ experience. After all, how many of you like dirt under your fingernails and blisters on your palms?
The solution to this problem is multi-sue gardening gloves. The more time you spend getting down and dirty in the garden, the more you need them. But there are other considerations beside dirt. Here are other gardening chores that may require gloves to protect your hands:
Building Retaining Walls
If you’ve ever done any heavy landscape construction, then you know that it is one of the fastest ways to tear up your hands. Lifting and lugging several hundred bricks or blocks can rip your skin to shreds. You will need to consider getting gardening gloves with leather palms.
Using Hand Tools
You also need to do a lot of digging with shovels when you garden and landscape. Anyone who has ever dug a trench knows that blisters will form very quickly. In addition, during winter, your snow-shoveling must be done with gloves on. You should also consider your hands when you reach into your ice melter bucket or bag to spread the ice melt salt. Once again, leather palmed gloves are going to be your best defense.
Using Power Equipment
I don’t normally wear gloves when I mow the lawn, but I do wear them when I am using my snow blower because of freezing temperatures. Not only will you need the leather for this, you will also benefit from some insulation.
There are hundreds of different types of gloves on the market, and the type of gardening glove you buy depends on the way you garden. In my case, I have 3 different sets for the different jobs mentioned above.
After choosing the type of gardening glove you need, you must make sure and pick out the perfect fit. Gloves that are too big have a tendency to slip off while gloves that are too small could cause aches and cramps. Any glove that doesn’t fit could defeat the whole purpose of wearing gloves and cause blistering. To find a glove with the best fit possible, try the gloves on both hands, make a fist, and imitate the movements you make when gardening. If there is no pinching or slipping and the glove is comfortable then you have found your match.
Gardening gloves can be bought in many places and are produced by many companies, causing them all to have a different quality and price. Most gloves can be washed in cool water and then air dried. There are many different types of gloves you can purchase to satisfy your varying needs, such as cotton and cotton-polyester for general-purpose chores. These are among the most popular gloves and are perfect for light chores in cool and dry weather. Leather gloves can also be used for general chores but are heavier than cotton and polyester. Grip enhancing gloves are designed with rubber dots for extra gripping power. Cut and puncture resistant gloves are designed to offer extra protection against sharp edges
If you are the type person that only wears gloves as an optional luxury for various tasks, you should think seriously for using specialized gardening gloves for many of the activities you will be doing outside. There is really no reason not to wear gardening gloves; they protect your hands from the elements and don’t ever cost all that much.
With winter on the way, the market ready for you to purchase your winter gardening gloves. While you are there, pick up some low cost ice melter before the next big storm hits.
One of the best ways to be sure that your have a beautiful, full, lush lawn when spring arrives is to make sure that you provide good lawn care during the winter months. Some people think that there is really no special care that needs to be given to lawns during this time of dormancy.
Following are some simple tips that will help to make sure that your lawn stays healthy, even if you can’t see it under the snow, and that will help assure that it thrives when spring returns.
lawn maintenance
If you do live in an area where you have regular snowfalls, then you will want to be sure that your strategy includes making sure that all areas of the lawn are free of debris and clutter before the first big snowfall of the year comes along. Proper lawn maintenance in preparation for winter snow would include raking the leaves, removing sticks, and disposing of any other type of debris that just doesn’t belong on your lawns.
Even if you are not expecting much in the way of snowfall, it is still important to be sure that the grass isn’t left under piles of leaves or other rubbish that can interfere with the grass receiving proper moisture, nutrients and air. While the growth of grass often comes to a halt in the late fall, it can still die if it is buried under any kind of yard debris.
home and garden
Many people have the mistaken idea that summer is the most important season for controlling weed growth. But the opposite is actually true and it is important to understand this in order to plan good lawn care for the lawns that surround your home and garden. In fact, while the grass is mostly dormant during the winter, the weeds are still growing and if they are left unchecked during this time, then they could overtake the lawn and leave you with a yard that is in pretty bad shape.
Fortunately, because your grass will be growing so slowly during the fall and winter months, it is rather easy to spot the progress of the weeds during this time. Just make sure that you give a bit of attention to your lawn during these months and get those weeds pulled, or apply weed killer, so that they don’t overrun the lawns and ruin the look of your landscape design.
garden services
If you like the look of a think, full lawn even through the wintertime, then it is a good idea to plant rye grass, bluegrass or other types of northern grasses which all tend to be heartier and will endure through the colder months of winter. One of the lawn care advantages of using rye grass in your lawns is that it grows well mixed with your current grass and will make your lawn look fuller and lusher. However, the rye grass will actually die off and your regular grass will take over as it comes to life in the spring.
If you plan to plant any winter grasses, like rye, then they will stand the best chance of taking root and growing well if you plant in October. And, even with chilly weather you need to be sure the newly planted grass seeds get enough water. If you have a week of dry weather, then you will want to be sure that you water so that the rye gets one to two inches of water every week. Utilizing these simple lawn care tips will give you the best looking lawn in the neighborhood, come summer.

Lawn Care And Maintenance

Home lawn care could be as simple or complex as you make it. Before deciding to put in various varieties and colors of exotic plants it’s a good idea to consider just how much weekend time you could spend on the maintenance of these unusual plants, or in lieu of your own loving care, if you can afford to have a professional landscape team come around to take regular care of your plants.
Any kind of foliage that is not native to the area is called exotic plant and that means it will require more care and supplementary things such as special food, water or lighting conditions for it to bloom. So, one way to prevent from making lawn care in your home a time consuming task is to plant only native plants that are accustomed to fending for themselves, as it were.
Some individuals, like myself, tend to find even the most basic lawn care a little tedious. Yep, even just lugging out the old lawn mower for a quick clipping can appear very tedious. But then again, I reside in a nearly tropical climate where the grass grows so fast that if I miss a weekly trimming in the summertime my backyard start to look quite jungly.
There is always the herbal lawn for those of us who look for a way to cut down on even basic lawn care. True, if you already have a lawn in place, or if the existing lawn is a particularly hardy variety such as St. Augustine or some kinds of crab grass, you may find it more work to get started. But you may find it worthwhile and even pleasurable to incorporate an herbal lawn if you don’t have a lawn yet or have a more fragile category growing.
Landscape And Landscaping

Shaping the landscape or landscaping if you prefer means any process or activity that changes the features of a portion of land in a noticeable way, such as living elements of fauna and flora, landforms, such as ground elevation and shape or bodies of water, human elements, such as fences and structures, and abstract factors such as elements that can manage the lighting and /or weather conditions.
Landscaping is a highly aesthetic landscape art form that requires a quantity of useful knowledge having to do with plant knowledge, practical applications and working with different tools. It could be stated that the earliest landscaper was the Greek philosopher Thales of Miletus, who spent a great deal of time pondering the environment and various scopes of landscaping.
Where most early landscapers argued that true landscaping alters plants or fields directly, such as in the actions of cultivation of food crops, Thales did not approve of this explanation of landscaping or shaping the landscape, arguing that any aspect of the physical world affecting someone’s visual perception of an area of land was a correct application of landscaping. Landscape and landscaping are all around us each and everyone of us.
Both Aristotle and Plato had nothing but praise for Thales philosophical modeling involving landscape and landscaping, as well as how his theories could be applied somewhere else in philosophical exploration. G.E. Moore also talked about Thales in many of his own philosophical works expressing how philosophical discourse and inquiry has led to the truest forms of human evolution and understanding.

Since I was very young, I always loved gardening. When I lived in a house with my parents during my teenage years, I remember having a flower and garden spot in the backyard that was out of this world. I grew some of the freshest tomatoes and some of the most beautiful daisies that you have ever seen. It’s just that, living in a small New York City apartment, I had about no room at all for my belongings. Growing anything was unthinkable.
Everything changed when I moved to San Francisco. I was very surprised by what I saw when I went to a SF flower and garden show. You see, San Francisco has a distinctive environment. Practically everything that can grow can grow there. It is bright enough for plants that need a lot of sunlight, and for plants that need a lot of moisture there is enough rain. It is not too hot, and it is not too cold. It stays almost the same temperature all year. In short, it is the perfect temperate climate.
Because of that, San Francisco flower and garden shows are known all around the globe. There grow some of the best and brightest flowers, the freshest fruits and vegetables, and the most striking gourds that you have ever seen. All the flower and garden publication profiles them each year, and each year it is getting better and better. When you go to the flower and garden show in San Francisco, it is almost impossible to not become obsessed with the idea of growing something on your own. The plants are so beautiful, after all that, how could you resist?
