Choosing Garden Furniture To Suit Your Garden

In your search for garden furniture or patio furniture, remember that it will be exposed to the elements all year round, therefore, it must be hardwearing. It would be helpful if all garden furniture was able to cope with such conditions but it seems some falls short of the grade. In the world of garden furniture it is fair to say “you get what you pay for”, often cheap furniture will fair poorly in the winter months.

Now you know you’re not going to buy any old garden set because it is cheap, the question is what are you going to buy?The next step will be to decide which of the following two materials you would prefer in your garden:

Metal Garden Furniture & Hardwood Garden Furniture

Metal Garden Furniture

By choosing Aluminium, you can be sure that you have garden furniture that will last all year round.Aluminium will not corrode over time so it is perfect for use in outdoor furniture.Choosing Aluminium doesn’t mean that you have to go for tubular aluminium, you can still achieve that country garden look by purchasing cast aluminium, this looks just like wrought iron but has all the attributes of aluminium.

So if you have decided to go for metal garden furniture, Aluminium will last for a life time making it a thoroughly worthwhile investment.

Hardwood Garden Furniture

Two pieces of wood are never exactly the same which is why I like it best.Like a finger print no two trees will have the same grain. The amount of wooden garden furniture available on the market could fill an entire book, such is the choice.

In my ten years of experience in the garden furniture industry, I have not yet found a wood to rival teak. The reason for this is very simple, it is the best there is to withstand all types of weather, including the often rainy UK summer climate.

This is reflected in the price, teak is at the high end of the price range but then you won’t have to maintain it and it will last a life time.

The reason hard woods are so hard is because they grow slowly. When it comes to purchasing your teak furniture, check that it has come from a manufacturer who takes responsibility for the forest from which it harvests trees, this is usually denoted by the FSC seal of approval.

Teak is worth the initial investment when you consider that it will last up to 25 years.
