Protecting Doors in High Traffic Places

With budgets under pressure more companies are realizing the benefits of extending the life of doors and frames using door protection systems. Ideal for maintaining the pristine appearance of brand new doors or to recondition older, worn doors.

Heavy duty door protection panels provide much needed protection to vulnerable door surfaces from damage caused by vehicular and pedestrian traffic. A wide range of designs can be created by cutting and shaping door panels to match the size and aesthetics of your building.

Door Protection Panels & Plates

Door Protection Panels are rectangular shapes of thin metal or plastic used to protect the most vulnerable part of the door surfaces. The areas that are most susceptible to wear include the bottom of the door and the area alongside the door handle and panels tend to be attached to these areas. Panels can be custom made to meet particular buildings requirements and can be shaped to create a specific design.

Door Edge Protectors

A new lease of life is given to old doors by adding door edge protectors. All thicknesses of doors can be accommodated so this type of protection is ideal for both old and new doors. Custom forming of profiles make it possible to fit to all types of doors such as swing, radius and square doors.

In the case of fire doors, Door Edge Protectors are available with fire/smoke seals to achieve the half hour and one hour fire rating.

Door Frame & Architrave Protectors

As door frames loose their shape over time, Door Frame & Architrave Protectors generally need to be made to measure. Impact resistance capabilities are provided by using PVCu and this provides the added benefit of reducing sharp edges.
Note: Savings can often be made by utilizing the waste material from the manufacturing process to make kick and push panels for a door.

Accessibility

D-Plates assist the partially sighted. A requirement for door handles to be easily recognizable can be met by adding d-plates to the door rather than having to replace the entire door handle.

Colours and Finishes

Most stockists will provide colour swatches or samples of the material they intend to use. The effects of ware can be reduced by selecting a textured finish such as Hessian. The edges of panels should be chamfered to leave a smooth, safe edge.

Installation

The standard method of fixing plates, D plates and Door Edge Protectors is double sided adhesive tape and can be fitted by anybody with basic DIY skills. Door Frame & Architrave protection will require more advanced skills.
